Ok i'm almost 14 and I have been recently starting to go to the gym, bench pressing, leg pressing, shoulder pressing, and doing all types of weightlifting, I also run about 3 miles while I'm there. I play football and soccer and I heard from a few people that if I continue weightlifting at this age I will stop growing, is there any truth to this? Right now I'm about 5'6". I bench about 90lbs. Leg Press 180lbs, Shoulder Press 70lbs, lift 30lb. dumbbells and I weigh 140lbs. Thanks for the help : D

  1. hey i have been training since i was 12 and suffered no height issue am 6 foot currently . you can only affect your height if you perform the motion properly and injure your sicks in your back

e-mail if you want more help

  2. Nah thats not true at all. Its a myth because most people dont understand weight lifting and because most of the best weight lifters are short because it gives them an advantage. If you dont go too heavy (read: insanely heavy) then you may damage your bones, causing them not to grow, but it is very unlikely.
