im getting a small dog and i've been wanting a weiner dogg

i would like to know about them

what food to feed them

price

where to get them

their back problems and how to help

potty training

or anything else

and just know if there good dogs or if i should get a different dog

These little guys are great pets. Being a little chubby is not the only reason they have back problems. Jumping upon furniture can be just as harmful.

the best way to keep them free from backproblems is to keep them nice and trim in the waist line

Dachshunds are a wonderful breed. They can be lazy and they can be playful. They are an upbeat, happy dog.

Food is going to depend on how active you intend to be with your dog, ask the breeder what he has been feeding the puppies and start with that.

Watch the local paper for ads, do not buy from a pet store as you might end up with a puppy mill puppy that has behavioral problems. You can also check the AKC website for breeder references or look in the back of magazines like Dog Fancy.

Dachshunds cost around 350-550 depending on your location, sometimes more sometimes less.

They come in three different coat styles: smooth, long and wire hair. The smooths are sort of medium energy level, the long hair seems to be a bit calmer and the wire with the most energy of the three. The long hair tend to be lapsitters more than the other two. But, it will all depend on the individual dog.

Back problems usually only come into concern if you allow the dog to become overweight or if they fall from a height.

Dachshunds are better than most small breeds about learning potty training and they are great trick dogs.

These are great dogs I think you will be very happy with one. They fit well into most living situations

If you want to get a Dachshund, look around! They are great pets. There are many different colors and coats though, choose what you want! BUT only buy from a breeder who has done health/genetic testing FIRST on both parents before breeding. If not, look at shelters or rescues!
