Weird Metrolink Question?

Okay, so I have always heard that metrolink was going to make rail service to Palm Springs, but they don't have it yet. I was wondering if anyone knows anything more about this, and if it's really going to happen...Also, I had emailed metrolink, reccomending that route, but I haven't gotten a response yet. I really think they should make that route, because people from the desert want to go to the beach, and people from the beach want to go to the desert. If you agree with me, you should email metrolink and tell them that, and maybe if they get enough emails, they might think about it....

There is already Amtrak service from Palm Springs to Los Angeles, on both the Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle lines, although not very frequent.  They take you from Palm Springs to LA Union Station, from where you can take Metrolink or MTA to Orange County or wherever in LA you want to go.
