  2. As you've already said, it's a Drinker moth - they're fairly common but definitely one of the more interesting looking "everyday" moths in the UK because of the way they rest with their wings folded over their thorax (body)

    There's a good link here; http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=188

UK Moths is probably the best website for identifying UK macro- and micro-moths (macro are the big ones, micro are the little ones) - their keyword search facility is great as it allows you to search by colour or by markings (eg "stripe" or "brown", though there are a h**l of a lot listed under "brown"!) - so you don't have to know anything about the taxonomic classification or scientific names to find out more about what you've found

  3. Can not find an insect guide for UK.  This looks very similar to male tussock moth in US.

  4. Havent a clue as to what type of moth that is but i would contact woodland trust and see if they know

  5. This beautiful moth (good photo as well) might be a Vapourer moth. Although I'm not 100% certain. It has a similarity to a Vapourer and I think for sure it is related. They are very common in the UK.

  6. It looks like a cross between a moth and a bat!

I have no idea what it is, though. Read a book about it or look it up online.
