Weird Noise On Home Phone?

Question

Last week I tried to call my house from my mobile and heard what sound like alien/UFO noises... Really strange sound waves.

Also the next day someone just tried to call my home phone and I heard that same noise on the home phone?

It sounds like really weird sound waves, almost like something is searching for a UFO or a robot. Sorry about the description. Has anyone heard of this before?

It had been raining for a week before I started hearing this noise, Now it has stopped raining for a few days I haven't heard it.

Does anyone know what could cause this?

Also something I just thought of, My power went out about a week ago, and reset the PC and modem. If this hurt the inline filter, could that cause it?

if it hurt the inline filter then that may be it or a fax is picking up this has happened to me numerous times.

you dont need a fax machine for a fax to pick up like that

If telephone cables get wet, the repairman use test equipment on the lines to locate the trouble. These test sets use a warbling sounding tone to help pinpoint the location of the trouble. This tone will bleed over onto other cable pairs in the cable and you can hear this tone.

i don't know if it's the same thing or not, but my mothers phone used to get noises for about three days after the rain stopped.  finally she called the telephone company, and it turned out that  there was water in the lines they fixed it and it hasn't happened since
