Weird Number?

I just got a call on my phone from a number 555-444-3333. Is there really a "555" Area Code? I thought that was a fake number made up for the movies. What could this call be?

(I didn't answer the call. I was suspicous, so I just screened the call.)

It was probably somebody using a fake number.  You did the right thing in not answering, and if you ever see a number like 111-1111 or 555-5555 or anything that doesn't look like a real number then it is best to ignore it.

(And no 555 is not a real area code, it was made only for movies, shows, etc.)

555 was used as a dummy prefix within an area code for movies and TV, NOT as an area code (e.g. 555-2368 or 305-555-2368, etc.).

However, there is currently no 555 area code assigned, so the number is definitely a fake.

oh haha this is an "online dating" tracking service . basically these people have all these numbers and call as a prank. theres no real service its like a prank call agency. ie gotten those calls before. annoying!!! however DO NOT call the number back. it spams your phone and makes it tough to load and stuff.
