Weird Sleeping Trance?

Okay a while back I was facing my wall and falling asleep. But I didn't close my eyes, I was just staring at my hand which was in front of me. After a while I started to feel sleepy, and then suddenly I heard this really big whooshing sound, like an out-of tune radio, except my television was off, and I dont own a radio & nobody in my house was awake. After a while it felt like someone was breathing in my ear, and I remember specifically as I was falling asleep I was looking at my hand and I tried to move it to turn over (to see what this noise was)..but I physically couldnt move. I remember staring at my hand thinking why wont it move, I need to move and what the h**l is this noise? I tried to scream but I couldn't. I was half awake and I tried fighting this noise until after a while this radio/breathing sound became quieter and went away from my ear. Then I tried moving and it worked. It's happened to me once before and it was the middle of the day and I was lying on my bed relaxing, staring at the ceiling, but it wasn't far as bad as the recent one I had at night time.

Phew, a lot to say xD

I'm just wondering why this happened because it has really frightened me and has it happened to anyone else before?

Thank you for taking the time to read this as I understand it's quite long. x*x

  1. I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS, THAT FEELING IS SO HORRIBLE, I THINK ITS MORE THAN A trance or sleep paralysis, i honestly believe it is something spiritual and demonic. Whenever it happens to me i pray really hard to get out of it

  2. Hi,

There are normal phases of sleep that are just below consciousness. You have no need to be frightened. People have reported just before waking up in the morning they experience dreams that they are consciously awake, but the body isn't quite there yet. I have heard before of people trying to move, but they can't until they are more awake.

I hope this puts your mind at ease.

    Have a wonderful day!

  3. yes this has happened to me several times

    it is called sleep paralysis

your body releases a chemical when you are sleeping that prevents movement and if you wake up quickly the chemical is still affecting the body

for most people it is not harmful... but if it happens very often you might want to ask a doctor
