  1. white footed ants are a new nuisance appearing in the south.  Cannot tell from your picture but white-footed ants are very, very small and can get into containers.  If yours travel in lines to a food source sounds like some type of ant.  Remove the food, clean up everywhere, and treat.  Will probably have to pick up the food dish daily and use a food container with a s***w top, or put it away elsewhere.

    ( I won't ask why a 'doglover' is feeding a cat)

  2. Picture isn't really too clear - can't tell what they are.

They could be larvae for something - that is, they will become something else.  If the food was dry (not canned) the food could be infested with what are known as Indian Meal Moths - very common in birdseed.  They start out as tiny eggs you can't really see, they hatch into small worms that look like skinny maggots, then they cocoon in a web and then become moths.  If you look at the dry cat food and see any webs, take all the cat food back to the store if you just bought it and/or throw it all away.  Not sure if it would hurt your cat to eat the worms, but why take any chances.  Start all over again with new food (save your receipt) and either get a brand new container that is air tight OR the container where the food is stored currently needs to be put through a hot cycle of the dish washer or thoroughly scrubbed with hot water and plenty of dishwashing detergent to remove any eggs that might be in it.  Remember to keep the lid on and keep it air tight.

Be sure to check your clothes, too just in case this is an infestation with something that may want to eat your fabrics.

If you can find another place to store the cat food and also to store the bowl, please consider it.  If you don't already, thoroughly wash the cat's bowl(s) in hot, soapy water every day.

  3. Can't really tell by the picture, they are too small.
