Weird bugs on my tomato plant?

they are green, less than a half an inch, more than 8 legs, and has what appears to be a little bit of dirt on its back. they are all over my tomato plants. I live in a rural section of Rhode Island

  1. Sounds like Japanese beetles. They will eat anything. Go get some sevin dust and dust them. Even if it not beetles it will take care of the bugs.


  2. What I may be thinking about is anphids, they eat the plants/vegetables. They are about the size of a poppy seed, and green. Ladybirds eat them. But then again, I live in Australia, so things where you live could be different
