My mother asked me about a cherry tree she found close to the local library.

The thing is that this specific three have got the cherry's pointing upwards, and not hanging down as usually.

The base of the leaves are red.

Thats about all she told me and we cant find any other information about it on the net.

Thanks in advance

  1. what colors were the fruit ? (cherries)

If they were a bit darker than usual, i'm pretty sure it would be the

    Prunus avium, wild cherry tree.

The petiole(base of the leaf) has a reddish coloration and sometimes the fruit grow in bunches of 2-6 and due to the smaller size/weight, they can point upwards.

My grandparents have a tree like that on their farm and it exhibits these things that you're describing..

Might be a decorative species as well, like Prunus serrulata or Prunus Tomentosa. Maybe you can provide a picture if you have a digicam at hand.
