  1. What kind of crystal is it?

  2. Crystals channel energy. You are sensing that energy. Crystals have been used in electronics communication from its beginning. A crystal vibrates to a frequency. Different size crystals vibrate to different frequencies. Thats how they first came up with radio channels.. Grind a crystal to a certain size and you have 790 AM...

Try going into an whole room full of crystals. Its wonderful. Just be sure if you buy any crystals you run it under water for a period of time to ground out any negative energy, because from a psychic perspective not an electronic one, crystals store energy...

  3. The tingling could be your imagination. However, with science you can figure out for sure if the crystal does anything or not.

    1) Pick someone who has no knowledge of the crystal, or your experiment. If you think they might know about it, don't pick them. Do not tell anybody what you are doing. Keep the reason for your experiment a secret.

    2) Ask them to place their hand over the crystal like you did.

3)Then tell them to remove their hand.

    4) Ask them, "Did you feel anything?"

    5) Write down what they say. If they say, "nothing" write down, "nothing."

    6) Repeat with as many people as possible. Friends would be best. Be sure not to tell them anything about what you are doing!

Don't tell anybody about the tingling in your arm. They might trick their brains into thinking they can feel it too. Do not even mention the word "tingling" because that could trick them as well. Do not let them know what other people felt until the experiment is finished.

Do not be upset if you do not get the result you want. It happens to scientists all the time! It is important to accept the facts. But, it is also important to think positive. You may very well discover the crystal actually has powers to make the arm tingle.

If you discover the crystal does nothing, do not be sad, be happy that you're a bit smarter that those who trick themselves into believing crystals have powers.

  4. Crystals focus or split energies (like a prism splits light).  Depending on the shape, size, and physical make up of the crystal, it will channel energy of different frequecies and with more or less efficiency.  Crystals have been used in electrical devices for years.  They are shaped and formed to best suit the purpose that they serve within the electrical device.

So, why did your arm tingle?  There are numerous explanations why your arm may have tingled.  It is possible that there was a fan blowing in the room that was causing you to get a chill that was travelling down your arm.  It is also possible that this crystal is channelling energies and that you were feeling the energy in your arm just as you would feel an electric field if you put your hand into it.    You have to determine the most likely cause yourself.

Where does the energy in the crystal come from?  Actually, the energy isn't in the crystal, but it is being focused and possibly intensified by the crystal from another source.  The energy may be coming from an electrical field.  It could be coming from vibrations in the earth (like an underground subway system).  It could be coming from a loud sound source.  It could be coming from natural energies in the earth or from living objects.

It would be impossible to identify the source without being there, but I believe that your question was more related to what properties in a crystal may cause you to feel the tingling than it was about the specific source of the energy.

You can feel energy (just as you would an electrical field).  The crystal may be in a location that allows it to focus an external energy source.  When you put your hand near the crystal, you are feeling a field that does not originate with the crystal but is being focused by the materials in the crystal.  I hope some of this information is useful.

  5. It's probably radioactive.  You most likely are going to get sick.

    That sucks man.

  6. Stored energy possibly. Do you know if your mum is a spiritual person? Do either of you believe in the power and energy inherent in crystals? What kind of crystal is it, color, clarity, size, that kind of thing?

Before I could answer your question, I'd need a little more background: like how your mum got it, where, and when.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but I hope that helps answer your question.

  7. Crystals can conduct electricity, but they don't have any more latent power than any other solid.  So please ignore New Age types who claim crystals can do everything from eliminate body odor to improve your ability to take a dump.  Such claims are patently false.

Your arm tingles due to the power of suggestion.  You can verify this by conducting the experiment a previous poster outlined.  You can deduce this by considering that if crystals are magical then the only variable in the equation is you and your impressions of crystal power inherited from your mother.

  8. you either believe that the crystal is powerful, and your mind is making you believe your arm in tingling, or it could be the position your holding your arm over it in.

    See TRs answer.

Aside from some known powers, like using a quarts crystal to power a transistor radio, crystals have not shown us any measurable energies or magical properties coming out of them.

For example, nobody has yet demonstrated any healing powers with crystals, otherwise, doctors would prescribe crystals to patients. If they had any known healing effects, they would be sold for big money by drug companies in capsules for sure.

  9. Either (A) power of suggestion or (B) poor blood pressure or (C) both.

I'd say most likely A. Since you were already familiar with your mum's beliefs in the crystal, you naturally wondered about it yourself. So when you first went near it, you expected something "weird" to happen and sure enough, it did. It's a psychosomatic response to what you expect you would find.

And I really think it would be a great idea if you did the experiment that hafetysazard recommended.

  10. The blood is leaving your arm from holding it out and up a while.

  11. Crystals consist of millions of individual structural units of atoms called unit cells. The unit cell is a square with an atom at each corner composed of silicon and oxygen linked together in a network or pattern called the 'lattice'. The effect of heat and pressure on these atoms rearranges them and this process is known as crystallisation. This is why they produce a current of electricity in a process known as piezo electricity or oscillation and therefore can be used in radio, television, computers and any electronic device requiring high precision. The application of heat to natural quartz also changes the negative and positive charges at either end of the crystal. The temperature change disturbs the stability of the atomic structure and attempts to regain stability therefore produce opposite charges at either pole called pyro   electricity; you have established some kind of connection, with the crystal

  12. maybe the crystal contains some electrical charge inside.

  13. A lot of people believe crystals harness spiritual energies.

I use crystals all the time, and have quite a collection.

Turmoline is great for bowel movements and my friend calls hers the "p**p stone". Amythest and Rose Quartz are good for mothers.

Surprisingly Diamonds don't hold much "spiritual value".

They turn people hollow if worn everyday.

The "engagement diamond" was a marketing ploy of the diamond mine owners in 1900;s. Over 95% of diamonds are controlled by one man, last I heard.

And they cause a lot of problems in Africa.
