Weird electricity problem at home???

So since Friday, the electricity in my house has been acting very weird? The lights in the bathroom will emit low levels of light, and turn back to normal, same with the bathroom fans on top it will spin normally and suddenly slow down and when this happens the lights start to flicker.

At random times during the night the four bedrooms on my side of the house will not have electricity while the other 3 bedrooms on the other side will have electricity. I would have to go outside at 3AM and flick that circuit switch on the side of the house.

And today my fridge in my garage, didn't have power so I hit that little reset button on the outlet and it turned on, but than the 4 bedrooms would loose power... I cant call an electrician until my parents get back on tuesday.

  1. Call the electrician ASAP. Like the other posts say you have a short somewhere and it may start a fire ANYTIME. In addition if you do not have flames you may be causing the refrigerator motor to go out. In fact any motor in the house is up for grabs when you are running it at low voltage. Like the: microwave, desktop, ceiling fans, bath fans, dishwasher, clotheswasher, dryer, attic fan, airconditioner, heat pump. For safety and to protect the house in general go flip off the main breaker and call for the electrician in the morning. The fridge will probably hold in enough cold and you will not have to worry about it anymore.

The key thing here is that it has never happened before like this. There is no downside here to just turning it off. Even if you lose some food this is not a thing to put off. Turn the power off and leave it off until an electrician call figure this out. This is not good.

  2. it could be where the wires connect from the phone pole to the wire that comes into the house. this happened to me once and what it was the insulation wore off and the wires were shorting out against the house causing this. call the electric company and have them check it out. they are responsible for the wires from the phone pole to the connection to the house so if that is the problem you wont get charged.

  3. sounds like breaker is burning out , replaced breaker with same amps. good luck.

  4. you have a bad neutral coming to the house cause the house to become a 220v in series circuit turn off the main and call an electrician

  5. You may have some rodents chewing your wires, squirrels, mice and raccoons like getting in your attic and they all will chew on the wires.

  6. You have a loose connection somewhere. If flicking the breaker on and off fixes the problem temporarily, the loose connection is in that breaker. CALL AN ELECTRICIAN if you dont know what you'e doing inside an electrical panel.
