Weird hopping insect

Question

The other night I was getting a drink out of a cooler (filled with ice, dont know if it matters), and i saw something on top of it, it was an insect, i didnt get a close look at it because it suddenly jumped up, it was a popping sort of jump and it was a really sudden movement, then it jumped away. btw, this was near a pool, again, dont know if it matters, does anyone know what this was?

It could have been attracted to the lights in the pool area or to the water in the pool or the cooler.  That limits the possible insects to those that jump.  That's a very large number of species.

a very small cricket or a water spider, sorry you'll need to be more descriptive
