  1. the only counting fact: oktoberfest is definetly overcrowded by non-germans.

  2. Well, I don't know if that's weird enough for you,but there are some rides this year that sound kind fo quirky to me: There's the "Höllenblitz" (h**l's Lightning), an indoor rollercoaster that includes staff spitting water at you, and there is also one ride that is solar-powered.

There are also some strange things on the official Oktoberfest site, including a game where cows have udders so full you have to urgently milk them:

Plus the whole thing has a load of its own vocabulary, special expressions that you won't hear anywhere but in this region, so check this out, too:

  3. Well I don't know that this is "weird" but it is interesting that it started as a wedding celebration, turned into kind of an agricultural exhibition, then turned into a parade with carnival rides and bier tents which can hold thousands of people. In 1872, the 15 day celebration was "moved" to start in September because people complained that it was getting too cold in mid-October to celebrate and stand around drinking cold beer...There will be 6 million attendees this year and what I found interesting was they are from all over Europe...Italians are all over the place, for example...2010 will be the 200th anniversay..

  4. Hi! I'm German, and been to the Oktoberfest only once. I cannot tell you any weird facts, but maybe these sites will help you in putting together some stuff:
