I asked this in the TTC section and only got one answer so I'm looking for some more responses and maybe a little personal experience! Thanks!

Let me just say that this last month (starting July 18th) was my first month off of the pill after 10 years on it so I don't know if that has anything to do with this. That being said my period was supposed to start on the 15th but it didn't start until the 17th which was Sunday. Then it was very light and it only lasted until about mid-day on Tuesday. I am still having some mild cramping and keep expecting it to start up again but so far there's been nothing. I have also been feeling nauseous off and on the past couple of days but usually it's about an hour after I eat breakfast no matter what time it is that I eat. Does it make sense to take a test, do you think that there is a possibility at all that I might be pregnant or do you think this is just a weird side effect from being off the pill for the first time in 10 years? Also, if there is even the slightest chance that I could be pregnant, I take folic acid every day (have been for the last 3 months) do you think it's worth it to test now or should I just be patient and wait until next month to see if my period comes?

Sorry for the long winded question! Thanks in advance for all of your opinions & answers!

  1. take the test

  2. test.  it can't hurt.

  3. Your situation is similar to how mine was. My period came one day late and lasted 2 days. I took a pregnancy test one week later, and it was positive. When I asked my doctor why that happened, he said it was just my body's way of excreting old blood from my short period. Anyway, keep taking that folic acid. It does wonders for your baby in the long run. Good luck!
