Weird question about the U.S. flag?

I heard that it's illegal to wear one as a costume. Is that true? And if it is, is it illegal to wear bikinis and stuff that LOOK like the flag but aren't made out from it?

I'm not thinking of wearing one; I just thought it was interesting.

  1. You can wear the red, white and blue anyway you want to sweatheart. Please don't worry about those patriotic idiots that fly the flag high with the skull and crossbones below it

  2. No, it's not really illegal. It is a violation of the U.S. Flag Code, that doesn't seem to stop people though.

"The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery."

You can find the rules and regulations in Section 1/Title 4 of the United States Code.

  3. It's not illegal...but very disrespectful.

That is, if what you're wearing is made from a REAL flag.

It's perfectly ok to bear the LIKENESS of the flag on your clothes..as long as those clothes weren't at some time Old Glory.

  4. it is according to the patriot act but if you still believe in the Constitution then yes its legal under free speech and expression.

  5. i dont think so but to be sure look it up on google.

  6. I am a product of military service during the sixties. At that time, it was illegal to "deface" the american flag. During this time came Easy Rider wearing his controversial head bandanna, and riding a chopper. People were burning the flag to protest Vietnam. It was an "In your face" attempt to rebuff the law. With today's laws, who knows?
