  1. its not weird, its just not as widely used as so many other names, which makes it nice.  There are some last names which are just soooo overused that they lose their appeal.  I happen to have a very boring last name, ha ha.  I know someone who's last name is Cutshall, which is almost like yours and probably pronounced the same.

  2. Cutshaw

    Last name origin & meaning:

Americanized form of German Gottschall (see Gottschalk)

    Gottschalk

    Last name origin & meaning:

German and Jewish (western Ashkenazic): from a medieval personal name composed of Middle High German got ‘God’ (Old High German got) + scalh ‘servant’, ‘serf’ (Old High German scalc).

  3. ,Check out "Gen forum"   There quite a big section on Cutshaws, an awful lot of cutshaws; originated from America, I think its original and quite sweet, especially as Genforum states that the meaning is, "I quote,  " Band of Angels"   There we are, Not only sweet but Angelic too..............ttfn

  4. This is all I could find in connection with the name,

    Cutshaw Name Meaning and History

Americanized form of German Gottschall (see Gottschalk).

    this  information came from www.ancestry.com

    hope this helps.

  5. I like it. It's kind of catchy and memorable.  It's hard for me to image it not being a good name.

It sounds like an actor's name, or maybe even a rock band's.

It has a feeling of importance or pride.

  6. It is quite a different name, but I usually like different names, unless they are stupid. Do you know what your surname means?

It's cool, I say. I don't actually know why someone would say they didn't like it with so many other surnames in the world.

I didn't have much else to do so:

The meaning of surname CUTSHAW is - dweller in, or near, Cuda's shaw or thicket; or at the divided wood.
