Weird tentacle thing?

Question

i was at a sandbar at boggs sound which is by emerald isle, NC. we were looking around, picking up hermit crabs and stuff like that. then we noticed that there were these weird white tubes in the sand. i tried to pick it up but it was too hard. so we dug around the tube and this big tentalcle thing popped out. we then saw 2 blue crabs fighting and 1 fell in the pit and tried 2 climb out using the tentacle, and the tentacle did nothing. does ANY one have any idea what this might be?

Sounds like an octopus, when I was down in Mexico these people picked up a huge conch shell and an octoput like poured out, like it was a liquid.

they were called  gooy ducks or ducts
