Weird trees?? Pre shaped?? 10 points!?

Question

There was this man that was able to manuipulate the growth of a tree so that he could shape it however he wanted it to look. He could make the shapes of the branches form in heart shapes and so forth. Well, I'm trying to find something about it on the internet and have googled everything I could think of putting in. This is all the information that I can remember. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I remember seeing this on television.  It was more than topiary.  Topiary is usually just the trimming of growth into different shapes.  The man I saw was forcing branches to grow into intricate shapes.  I have tried several Google searches but I couldn't find anything about it.  I'm not sure how to find any information but I know what you are talking about.
