Question:

Weird web surfing lag problem.

I'm currently using a D-Link DIR-655 for about a month maybe now but this problem only came up days ago. When I play games, I get really low latency (like around 25 ms), which is good but, when I'm surfing around the web, it's EXTREMELY slow before a page loads completely. Last time, I opened Google and it took like 5 to 10 seconds for the logo to be loaded completely. I'm sure no one was downloading stuff or anything. So I decided to check my bandwidth on CNET.com it gave me 65806.5 Kbps (is this a lot?). I'm not sure why, perhaps you know? Thanks

  1. I see you're using an Xtreme N router. Does your wireless card meet the speed specs of the router? It's ideal if they are both from the same generation of models (Which means you should have an Xtreme N wireless card or similar speed rated card to use it at full speed).

If so, this worked for me, could work for you:

    1. Type 192.168.0.1 into your web browser.

    2. Enter your password (if you have one, which you should since it's a wireless network)

    3. Click the "wireless" tab.

    4. Look for a speed mode parameter that should read something like "N mode."

    5. Set the speed to the highest possible.

    6. If this setting does not work with some computers, keep dialling down the speed until everyone is able to use the network.
