Looking for the funniest or weirdest proposal. Men and women welcome. After a movie, my fiance said we were going for a drive...we went to a store (a store which I hate with a passion, which kind of makes it more romantic), took me in, walked with me overt o the jewelry counter and started looking at all the rings...my heart was beating like no other and I was shaking uncontrollably...he looked at me and then said, "Do you like any of these?" Later he actually asked, (twice, long story), he said "Just so it's somewhat conventional, will you marry me?" LOL.

We are completely in love and getting married in two weeks.

  1. yeah that does sound like a weird/strange proposal, i feel sorry for u that he didn't put any effort into it. anyway hope u marriage is a bit better .

  2. This may not be weird but I'll share mine anyway:

I met my fiance when I was 5 years old (of course, we didn't know that we would be getting married!) at our lakehouse. His family and mine have been friends for quite some time and they each own a house on the lake (it's a private community that was actually established by our familes). Anyway, each fourth of July we all head to the lake to watch fireworks, eat, drink and celebrate. There are usually about 300 people that come... it gets crazy! Well, all the boys usually put on the fireworks while the girls and the elders sit back and watch. This year, my fiance decided to pop the question to me on the bridge while the fireworks were going on. All anyone could see was him getting down on one knee while I was standing next to him and the fireworks were all above us... casting off just enough light to see our silhouettes. It was actually really romantic because we share such a love for the fourth of July and the lake. Plus, all of our family was there!

  3. a couple friends of mine got engaged in March. They went out west together to visit his family, and he thought it would be great to hide the ring in her pants pocket, so that when she went through security at the airport, it would set off all the alarms. he would then drop to one knee and dramatically ask her to marry him. as they are waiting in line he noticed all these little old ladies with 10 thousand rings on their hands going through without a problem (thats how he put it) and realized this wasn't going to work out as planned. of course they both went through security without a single beep. once they were airborne he had to tell her "uhh, by the way...theres something in your pocket"

they are getting married next may!  :)

  4. My husband and I talked about getting married. We lived in different states. He told me to go look at rings. So I went to the family jeweler and found the perfect ring. I called to tell him and he seemed disappointed! I didn't think much of it. Well when he came back home to get married I went and showed him the ring. He said it was nice and we left! The next day I was at work, he called and said that he had a surprise! I knew it was my ring. I worked at an Academy teaching preschool at the time. We were all outside for play time. I watched the road just waiting for him to come, he said he was on his way. All the teachers and I were giggling like school girls! Well it came to the point where we had to go in. I watch the window in my classroom but soon my shift was over. Since he lived out of state he was driving my car, I went to the parking lot and he wasn't there! I sat in the parking lot for 20 minutes! Finally he pulled in. I was so excited, I got in and smiled at him. He goes turn around, so I did. He put my necklace on that he accidentally broke. He said surprise I got it fixed for you! I was so let down. He said, oh that isn't want you wanted. I said, no it's great thank you. I just looked at the floor mat. Then he pulled out a ring box and said, how about this, would it make you happy to be my wife? I was so excited. Of course I said yes!! Later on I asked why he had seemed disappointed when I told him I had picked out a ring. He said so had he. He was planning on proposing in the airport when I went and picked him up!! I was so upset, I couldn't figure out why he told me to look at rings. That would of been so romantic, but we still had our own little moment!

  5. This happened to my boss when he was in his last year of college (not much money).  He saved for the ring then asked his gf out for a movie (so she thought).  On the way, he said he was hungry and wanted to stop at McDonald's.  He set it up beforehand that the drive through window person would hand out one long stemmed rose, and the ring was in the bag with the hamburgers (this was 25 years ago and people didn't steal much I guess).

Anyhow, he gave her the rose and she asked if McDonald's was running a special but she was pissed because she didn't like McDonald's so she threw the bag into the back seat and said she wasn't hungry.  He had to pull over and get the bag first before he could deliver his speech.  He couldn't think of anything very romantic to do and that was the best he could come up with but it went really wrong with her being mad and all.  Of course she was ashamed when she saw the ring.  He paid $5,000 way back then!!!

But they've been married all this time so she got over it pretty quick.  She still won't eat at McDonald's though.

My own husband really flopped.  He was too nervous during dinner and so waited until we got to my condo.  I was in the kitchen getting a Coke when he came in, lost his nerve and what he was going to say. He just shoved the box at me and said, "Here!"  I had to ask him if he was asking me to marry him. He said "well yes!"  And I said "yes!"  LOL  But he's the best guy in the world!

  6. My husband was getting ready to join the army and had just gotten home from a meeting with his recruiter when he burst into the living room and said "were getting married." I then said the heck we are. My husband then pulled a ring from his pocket and  told me that he loved me and more than likely he will be stationed somewhere else and that he didnt want to lose me. I started crying and say yes. We were married two weeks later and that was three years ago.

  7. My mom and dad (now divorced for 8 years.. thank god.) were together for about 5 years and my mom was getting tired of waiting. One night my dad took my mom to dinner and she had ordered a steak. well she asked for well done, but it came back almost like it wasn't cooked at all. She asked for it to be taken back very nicely and when it did come back it still wasn't done.

She didn't make a big deal and was like that's okay and I'll finish eating it at home. For some reason my dad got mad that she did that and all the way home he gave her a silent treatment. She asked what was wrong and he pulled out the ring and pretty much threw it at her and said here put it on. She asked if that meant they were getting married and he said yeah tell me when and where and I'll be there..

Pretty much that was a clue to not marry him.. ohwell :] they are divorced now and I'm glad.
