is there a future in any type of welding? what type of money?

Like anything, it depends on how good you are. Yes there are many jobs available, underwater is specialised, so the pay would be far greater, in my opinion, have no idea, it is very dangerous if unskilled as a diver. Depends also where you live, here is Australia skilled welders have no problems getting work, go for it.
