My husband is getting ready to get a lump some payment from disablity. This is 3 1/2 back they owe him. First my son will get his and then later my husband will get his. We have been on welfare for several years waiting for this to happen...

My question is will welfare take his money?

If so what % will they take?

Do they have the right to take our sons money???

  1. welfare did not get any of my backpay when I got mine. Once the monthly checks start coming his checks cut be cut or your husbands could be cut.. they go by houshold income especially if one of them is also getting SSI.. Only your soc sec. worker could explain that to you and tell you yes or no on that.. i am in no means an expert on that but your backpay is not counted in welfare.. however your monthly checks are and in regards to your backpay you only have so long to use that or welfare will count it as an asset.. usually 6 months or 1 year.. again, DHS will have to tell you that..
