Pinball is the new CEO of the Argos. I didn't think he could walk away from football.

So how about O'Bee being the new GM in Hammer town? I liked him better as a coach.

Any Cat fans out there?

  1. I am an Argos fan, but I really have to disagree with the move. You can't get a new GM every year just because you didn't make the playoffs. You have got to stick it out with a guy for a couple of years, teams don't just come together like that. I thought that Desjardins had brought some talent to the team. He picked up some good looking players they just have to come together as a team (and give Jesse Lumsden the ball a little bit more.....hint, hint). I don't see why they got rid of Desjardins in the first place. You can't go and get a new GM or a new Coach every year the team doesn't make the playoffs. Doing that can really hurt a franchise.

And speaking as an Argos fan, Pinball is the greatest I hope he will be a fundamental part of the franchise for years to come.

  2. I'm not an Argos or TiCats fan, but I'm happy for Pinball.  He's a class act all the way and I don't see why he wouldn't be the next commissioner of the CFL (not that I think Cohon should go).

O'Bee will make a difference in Steeltown, but it will take a few years.  The TiCats have talent, but they killed themselves game in and game out with stupid penalties.

And speaking of penalties, the CFL is going to appoint a new Director of Officiating.  Hopefully that person will have an immediate impact, but I fear it will take several years to bring in a new crop of refs before we see much change.

  3. O'Bee will hopefully bring some stability to the Cats. They need somebody there who seems to at least understand the hows and whys of the CFL. They look to be pretty set-up now with Printers, and Bob.

The (I hate to use the term "new") owner of the Cats, doesn't seem to mind laying out money to put a decent product on the field, now they just need to get it done.

On a Pinball note, I think it is amazing he has been involved with the club for 20 years now. I am not much of an Agro's fan but he is a pretty classy guy and a great spokesman for the league.

  4. Nah, I'm a Bomber fan.  But I am a fan of competition.  If O'Billovitch can push the team closer to parity with some other teams, it will be good for the whole league.  It hurts when a team is in a real deep hole, and that hurt applies to the players, coaches, and the most loyal of fans.  He brings his coaching knowledge to the position that brings the talent that the coach gets to work with.

It is good for Toronto that Pinball stayed with the team.  He is such an interesting character, and has the Argos logo not just tattooed, but branded on his butt.
