Well I for one am very pleased, because even though they did a stupid thing by leaving those children, they have been punished enough, not only by the Papers but by the writers on here, We all have our views, and I for one dont believe that by condeming them anymore for leaving them, it will be something that they never will forget. I only hope and wish that someday she will come back into their lives, and whoever did this unforgivable crime will hang for it.... as they are despicable.

my views are unchanged, I hope everyone focuses now on the search for Madeleine and leave her parents alone, they have enough to cope with without people believing everything they read in the press or the rumours circulated by people with nothing better to do.

The Portuguese Police acted in an ineffectual and poor manner in respect of trying to find Maddie - it now seems clear they did not bother even looking for the girl and in their minds she was dead and buried.

They thrashed around blaming everyone insight, including accusing the McCannes of killing their own daughter.

How stupid can you get.

The McCannes legal team are going to demand the Portuese police files into the case of missing Maddie to see exactly what they did or did not do.

One big mistake the Portuguese police have made is under estimating the McCannes.  This is a family which now has considerable support and money for any legal campaign they might wish to consider will not be a problem.  That is a promise.

If I were them I would never feel cleared, as I would know in my heart I had left my children alone.  I feel they should be charged with abandonment. The fact they have other children worries me. ......Will they do the same with them.....i hope they have learned a hard lesson, at the cost of a lovely young child.

I think there is more to their story than they let on. I dont think they killed her but they arent telling the full story. As caring and loving as they seem i just cant believe that they would leave their children alone in an apartment in a strange place, if all that happened was that madaline wandered off on her own and got into trouble then surlet they are the prime suspects bcoz she shouldn't of been left on her own, and therefore they are to blame, sad but true, and im sure they have been punished enough already for their decision.

They haven't been cleared of anything,the case has been shelved pending further evidence.The fact remains that if they had taken responsibility for the well-being of their children Maddie would still be with them.I know that a lot of people on here are prepared to shrug that off but as a parent and grandparent I find that position repugnant.

This does not clear them it has only been shelved, until a body appears with evidence to the contrary they will always have a question mark over them. Nobody can be 100% cleared until the case is finally solved :)
