Well done Simon Whitlock, “The wizard” looks promising after McCoy’s Premier League performance!
The McCoy’s Premier League Darts 2012 gave a lot of memories that will stay for a long time. One name stood out unlike any other and that name is Simon Whitlock.
“The Wizard” has proven a lot in this year’s League as his overall performance was indeed a delight.
Whitlock came in the tournament as an under-dog and came out as a fighter. He was the only one without a heavy bag of experience who reached the final of the League.
The Australian darts magician had pretty tough competitors to face in the rounds yet gave an excellent battle with top-notch play and precision at its best.
He still remains the only player to have never won a Championship after reaching the final. This year he was up against none other than Phil Taylor, the king of darts.
Critics have given a lot of applaud to Whitlock even though he lost the League final, yet, he gave a good show. When you are up against “The Power”, even being an opponent is itself an honour and Whitlock has achieved that honour.
This year’s League saw a mature and much more aggressive Whitlock. The best match in the entire League still remains the Whitlock versus Lewis match in which “The Wizard” destroyed “The Jackpot” fair and square causing havoc all over the world.
He, single handedly, threw Lewis out of the League which was the most shocking event at the McCoy’s Premier League Darts history.
Taylor praised Whitlock in high notes after his victory and seemed impressed with the young Australian’s performance.
“Simon came back brilliantly but I think that used up a lot of his energy, and even when he got level I knew that I had the throw and just had to keep myself steady, and thankfully I came through” said the World number one after winning the prestigious title.
“The Wizard” was happy with his level of play and felt honoured to have reached the final against a player like Taylor.
“It's been a fantastic McCoy's Premier League though and I'm really proud to have reached the final. I think the two best players reached the final” said Whitlock.
The upcoming U.K Open will give Simon Whitlock an opportunity to give the best of him as a professional. His play at the McCoy’s Premier League has been phenomenal and “The Wizard” is looking promising in the future.
For now, it is time to prepare for the U.K Open as the darts magicians ignite the flames of unbound entertainment once again.
