  1. wheree them then on the day or have a sight test to be sure whats cheaper sight test or extra driving test

  2. Test yourseld measure off 25 metres in a car park and see if you can read the number plates. If you can't then go to the optician. If you fail the sight test the tester wion't even go out in the car with you

  3. Simply put, If you fail the eyesight test, then you shouldn't be driving in the first place.

However, if you can read a standard car number plate at 50 metres, then you have nothing to worry about.

Just nip out into the street and see if you can.  If you can read the plate as close as 25m and as far as 100m then there's no problem in passing the sight test.

  4. New applicants are barred in law if the visual acuity, using corrective lenses if necessary, is worse than 6/9 in the better eye or 6/12 in the other eye. Also, the uncorrected acuity in each eye MUST be at least 3/60.

You can check this before your test.

  5. Your contacts should be strong enough that you can see a number plate at the correct distance (I can't remember how far that is) so unless your eye sight has got worse since your prescription was written then you should be fine, try testing yourself and if you can't see a number plate then go back to the opticians and ask for an eye test and a stronger prescription.
