  1. Don't start with dresses and tights.  Here is the order you should buy your "skating stuff" in:

    -sweat pants

    -inexpesive skates

    -skirts, dresses, tights

    -(later on) better skates

I wouldn't start with dresses and stuff because it would be uncomfortable wearing that without your own skates.  Try a used pair to start with, but make sure they are not broken down.  Skates are the most important thing-once you get your own you will advance more quickly, I can guaruntee it!

Once you get into harder jumps, you might want to get a more expensive pair.

    Now, how to get money:

I babysit regularly for this family, and they paid me well.  At twelve there is not really much you can do.  Try dog walking, chores, all that fun stuff!

What ever you do...SKATING IS WORTH IT! <3

  2. well maybe your parents could pitch in or i would suggest babysitting

  3. 12 is a hard age to get a good paying job, because most stores wont hire anyone under 16. however, when i was 12 I babysat for 2 families on a regular basis, and made enough money to help my parents with costs for my sports.

If you take a class in CPR parents will be much more likely to hire you. Its great if you can get a family that needs a babysitter a few days a week, as long as it doesn't interfere with your skating.

Another option is asking the skating rink if they have anything you can do. sometimes, you can work to pay off your ice fees.

  4. babysit, dog walking, lawn mowing, house cleaning, fence painting. I read on someone's blog that they bought a spider plant for $20, clipped and rooted it in little plastic pots (10 cents each) and made like $200 off them in a couple yard sales. Sale your old clothes and toys in a yard sale, ask around your friends and family and ask if they'd like to donate some items for it. Offer to clean out peoples basements or garages in exchange for their old c**p and sale it. Wash dogs? Take some stuff & trade up on craigslist until you reach your goal. -Good Luck!

  5. You should talk to the manager of the ice rink you practice at because I know some rinks that gladly give jobs to skaters.  Also sometimes they will give you a discount in the pro-shop for being an employee or let you have extra time on the ice.  Also the rink I skate pays more advanced figure skaters to help coach and teach people in lower levels.  Also talk to your counselor at school because they might be able to help you find a job that will be designed for someone your age.  Good Luck on the job hunting.

  6. you can put the money you have right now in a bank account and you can get interest for it.there isn't that much places where 12 year olds can get jobs.you can try a paper route or you can go around your neighborhood and offer to help people the other day i got 5 dollars for helping a old women carry her groceries in her house.you can also save up coins over time you can get a lot of money like that.sell your stuff you dint need on eBay on a garage sale.ask your mom and other family members to help give you some money.try and ask your mom for a 5 dollars every week as allowance i know that is not a lot of money but it will save up.you can also do chores around the house.try too walk peoples dogs and wash them you can mow lawns. There is a lot of stuff get out there and try.

  7. Maybe some baby sitting, house cleaning, etc.

Try washing dishes for elderly persons, or cleaning out the fridge... cleaning out a freezer.. etc.

You're really to young to get a real job...

Try asking the people around your neighborhood what tasks you can do for them...

  8. You can go to craft stores and buy beads and string and make bracelets and sell them to friends and family. Jewelry making is very fun but can also make big bucks. In 3 months I made about $500 from selling jewelry at age 12. Dresses are very expensive, even the practice ones. I recommend wearing stretchy pants, not jeans, and some thin socks and a cute shirt. These are things that you probably have. This way you can save as much money as possible. Ask your parents to help out. Try saving as much money as possible, which means used skates or cheap low level skates, sweats, and a cute shirt. This way, all you really need to buy are the skates. New beginning skates can cost around $100- $150 so you can start your goal at that. Good luck!
