  1. The others will be fine as long as you clean up the mess from the exploded egg......    and clean it well.......      if bacteria is allowed to form and live in the remaining egg mess, then it can penetrate your other eggs and will kill the embryo......    you can try to candle your eggs to see if you should throw some of them away.......     take a bright flashlight or even a lamp and hold the egg over it......    look to see what it looks like inside......    you can look at websites to see the development process of embryos in the egg to help you know what you are looking at........     by 5-7 days you should have something that resembles a spider......     by 14 days you should be able to see the shadow of a small chick/duck and may even be able to see the heart beating......    by 21+ days the egg should be filled completely except for the air cell at the end......     any eggs that don't look like the pics you can find on the internet should be thrown away, because they didn't form......    and could very easily explode also!!!

  2. the others will be fine as long as they are not rotten also, have you candled them to see if they are fertile?

  3. How long have you been incubating them?

The one that exploded had to have been old before you put it in the incubator. A good rule to follow is not to try to incubate any egg over 10 days old. Candle the rest of the eggs and toss any that are not fertile.

For a less fancy candler, I use a bright flashlight and wrap my hand around the end before putting the fat end of the egg up to it to direct all the light through the egg and not into my eyes.

  4. The exploding egg could spread bacteria to the other eggs and cause them to become contaminated.Arent there different requirments for hatching duck and chicken eggs.I have incubated chicks but never ducks,so I dont know alot about the duck eggs. You should candle the eggs to see if their are any good before you have a real big smelly mess.Usually eggs explode because they are too dirty, never incubate dirty eggs.!
