Well prepared Lee Chong Wei eyes Indonesia Open and World Championship titles – Badminton News
The World Number One shuttler, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, is ready to contest in the upcoming events, including next week’s Indonesia Open Premier Super Series and the World Championships, which will take place on August 8, 2011.
The 28-year-old Chong Wei will be looking for his third consecutive Men’s Singles title in the Indonesia Open, as he grabbed the previous two editions without any considerable problem.
While talking about his training and preparations for the World Championship and Indonesia Open, Chong Wei said, “I am happy with my preparations for the world meet so far. I am injury-free and I am focused on doing well. A good outing in the Indonesia Open
will put me in good stead for the world meet.”
Commenting on his arch-rival, China’s Lin Dan, the Malaysian added, “It will be great if I can meet Lin Dan in the final but that does not mean I will take the others lightly. It is always best to tread with caution from the first round onwards.”
Chong Wei and Lin Dan faced each other on two occasions this year. The Chinese defeated Chong Wei in the final of the Korea Open Premier Super Series 2011, at Seoul, South Korea. However, the Malaysian took a prompt revenge from Lin, by beating him in the
title-match of the All England Open Premier Super Series.
In the upper-half of the Men’s Singles draw, Wang Zhengming, Chen Long, Du Pengyu, Kazushi Yamada, Kenichi Tago, Boonsak Ponsana and Jan O Jorgensen will compete in the event along with the top seed Chong Wei.
Lin Dan will start his campaign from the bottom-half of the draw in the Indonesia Open. Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat, Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade and Korea’s Sung Hwan Park will be fighting for glory in this half of the draw.
Winning the Men’s Singles title in Indonesia will boost the confidence of Chong Wei and give him momentum to put up a good show in the upcoming edition of the World Championships, in London.
