^^^^It looks as if Mr. Roberts isn't exactly ready to retire.

I've been worried sick he'd retire. And I'd be extremely sad. He was he ony person who I would hate to see retire this offseason. I hate to see him retire more than anyone else.

Question....do you feel Wilson was the right choice for the Leafs?

  1. Gary Roberts brings a strong presence to the Penguins. Every team needs that one person. Detroit had Mac (Darren McCarty) giving the Wings that inspiration and veteran leadership. Gary's age means nothing if he inspires his team to play harder.

Ron Wilson is an amazing coach and he will bring success to the Leafs, if they allow it. The Leafs problems are not only in their current team or coaching but in their recruiting process as well. The Leafs need to set up a system which will allow them to acquire and develop young players.

It will take a few seasons for Ron to get the team in order to become a playoff giant but he can definitely do it, provided he gets the backing from the big fish.

Patience will lead them back to being powerhouse. Don't expect anything for at least 2 seasons imo.

  2. he is going to have a heart attack on the ice

  3. No.  The Leafs are not talented and need some major help.

  4. yeah roberts! woo woo!

Sure why not? Its something new for the leafs

  5. Mr. Roberts basically eats babies for breakfast... he isn't going anywhere anytime soon =)

  6. Sigh....these people just won't give up especially at there age.lol

Eh,Wilson is better then most of the other coaches around so I guess it's a better choice especially since it's the Leafs....they do everything wrong.

  7. Well, Roberts is a great player to have on any team, from the worst teams to the best. I think he can really help the team to win the cup next year, or get past the 3rd round. He has really good veteran leadership that will defineatly be another plus that will help Pittsburgh next season.

To answer your question, I think Wilson was the perfect choice for Toronto. He will be in his first 'real' hardcore hockey city to coach. His statistics say he is a great regular season coach, a good 1st round coach, but nothing more. Maybe that will change. I think the Maple Leafs will still not make the playoffs next year, but I'm guessing the year after that they will make it to the playoffs.

  8. Wilson could be just what the Leafs are looking for. I mean some people are saying that if he couldn't lead SJ what makes us think he's going to pull through with the Leafs. Well my little Theory is the blame had to be put on someone. And i guess he was that someone. Its all abotu who you work with and the organization, way of play. Soo I think he'll actually be doing well with the Leafs...

Buuuut than again its just my theory.

  9. I wish I could post the link but it won't allow me.

If you go on CBC.ca and go onto the CBC Sports Video Player under interviews,

there was an interview with Roberts after they lost Game 6.

He says that, The way that the fans treated him,

and the way he enjoyed his time here, he has a hard time thinking that its over at this point.

I hope he doesn't leave that would be very upsetting.

I have really think he is coming back.

Wilson may have been a right choice for the Maple Leafs, we will have to wait and find out what he has to offer to the Leafs, and if it will help their team move forward into the right direction.

  10. I think Wilson was/is the best guy available. Is that the same?

Another reasonable question is; is the TML the best choice for Ron Wilson? The hockey media and call in sports shows can be brutal here. Not much gets overlooked.

As far as Roberts retiring, he has a long way to go to be considered the most over-the-hill guy in the league. Still worth a decent contract. I think he'll give it another year at least.
