What light does it shine on the US & Russian Military?

What does it state about our relationship with our allies if they help us and we do not help them?

i wud not agree about the budget thing, not to mention the money  from some western countries tht were spent on military purposes + the weapons tht georgians got from the west

While I must agree with you that Russia at the beginning of WWII had old equipment (including tanks), the real brake in the war was brought by introduction of new equipment. T-34 tanks were made by Russia starting from 1942 and were so good that many countries continued to use T-34  for several decades fallowing the end of WWII.

Looking several centuries back, Georgia always relied on Russia for protection from Ottoman Empire (Turkey) Georgia never really had an army of its own.

That was a Russian soldier cracking a joke, the reason why Russia won is it was no match to begin with.  Russia had military superiority over Georgia.  Georgia could not fight Russia's air power and lost a lot of tanks and military equipment from air strikes.  Georgia was not prepared for a war against Russia, and important to note its military budget is only 2% of Russia's.

Germany was beat in WW TWO because it was over whelmed by lesser quality equipment made by the USA and USSR.

Germany had the Tiger tank,  the best tank of WW II and it was beat by cheaply made Sherman and Russian tanks.   Even the best tank can not win when 4-5 enemy tanks hit it all at the same time.

Germany had jet fighters.  They could not do much when the USA could make new prop driven fighters and bombers faster than the jets could shoot them down.  

Germany have V1 and V2 rockets but kind of hard to shoot them when the launch sites get over whelmed by thousands of ground troops and the rockets themselves are captured.  

Now the same is happening in Georgia.    The Russians are simply overwhelming the defenses of Georgia with more than they can handle.  

The USA would like to help Georgia,  but thanks to the cuts of Clinton and the deployments of Bush,  we do not have much we can send to help.   Sixteen years of bad decisions by militarily ignorant presidents hurt the military more than WW TWO!!   Vote Obama into office and we may as well surrender to Mexico now.

It is true.

US trainers good  trained Georgians:  to retreat rather than fight.

Poor Georgians declared war of Russia, having a hope, that not they, but the whole "civilized" world immediately will  fight instead of them with Russia and unmercifully beat Russians with help fists and feet.

And as they were disappointed.

There is not friendship in a policy, and only the mercantile personal interest of every country.

A freedom, independence, territorial integrity it is not possible to get in a gift. It is needed to fight for them, and if  have not strenght and desire - become weakened and endeavour to enjoy.
