  1. It is reputed to be the windiest city in New Zealand, possibly because of all the hot air that come from the Beehive, our centre of government.

Nature tends to channel the wind between the North and South Islands.

As the Capital there is a lot of Governmental Buildings and that sort of work.

The city is rather hilly but getting around isn't much of a problem if you use public transport.

Have worked in Wellington for 6 months years ago, and am glad to be back in Dunedin.

  2. Wellington is like a smaller version of Melbourne - very cultural, great music scene, good job opportunities etc.  If you were going to pick a major New Zealand city to live in this is the one to pick.  Stay away from Auckland - it's a hole!!

  3. I left the South Island High Country and moved to Wellington. I hate it so much that I plan on returning to the South Island within the next 6 months.

  4. well wellington is actually quite an educational area. it houses the hive - nz parliament, the te papa national museum, a beautiful civic center, and near wellington you could visit various fields of flowers and a famous ice cream factory. however i personally would prefer auckland for the more lively and vibrant night life, and i love queenstown for all the outdoor activities possible. so, it depends on what are your likes.
