Wellington v Canterbury – HRV Cup, 2012/13 – Match Recap
A fluent unbeaten half-century from Jesse Ryder saw the Wellington Firebirds securing a 6-wicket win over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canterbury-c775 Wizards in their match during the ongoing HRV Cup, played at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington on November 9.
Canterbury started out by winning the toss and electing to bat first. The Firebirds’ Grant Elliott (2-0-6-2) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-John-McKay-c44446 (3-0-31-1) and Luke
Woodcock (4-0-22-1). Only the top four batsmen in Canterbury’s batting order managed to reach double figures – the rest were unable to stand up to the Firebirds.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Herrick-Worker-c59349 (23) for an opening partnership of 52 runs, which came to an end in the 7th
over, with the dismissal of Worker at the hands of Woodcock.
Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Fulton-c2177 (34) teamed up with Cachopa for the highest partnership on his team’s side – a 61-run stand for the second wicket. Their combined efforts got the team total up to 113, after which Fulton fell prey to Elliott in the 15th over.
Following his dismissal, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Stewart-c2541 found himself sent packing by McKay on 3. Henry Nicholls (1) and Logan

Wellington, however, faced no difficulties during the chase, with opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679 driving the innings with an unbeaten 90 off 68, at a strike rate of 157.89. His blistering knock included 5 sixes, and 6 fours, and paved the way for the Firebirds’ victory.
