Welsh star Gavin Henson makes his return at Test against Barbarians in Cardiff – Rugby news

Gavin Henson, who was sacked by French club Toulon last month, is likely to make his second coming for Wales tomorrow in a Test match against the Barbarians. The Welsh star is making his comeback into the team after an absence of two years. Henson has not represented his side in any Rugby World Cup installation and he is hopeful to achieve the milestone this year.

Gavin Henson is very happy after being reconsidered by his national side. He actually adopted a self-imposed exile from international rugby two years before after he was attracted by a multi-million dollar deal by French club Toulon. The same club ended the contract of Henson earlier in May, due to the breaching to its code of conduct.

Gavin Henson made his international debut in 2001 for Wales and has participated in 31 tests for his national side. During his stay with the Welsh side, his performance was impressive. He was tested at many positions on the field but he remained consistent with his performance. He scored 130 points for Wales in just 31 appearances and then retired from international rugby.

The Welsh coach, Warren Gatland, welcomed the fly-half back into the side and said that Saturday’s fixture at Millennium Stadium will provide him an excellent opportunity to assert his position in the team. The coach further said if he has to fulfill the dream of playing RWC 2011, he will have to prove it against the Barbarians.

Meanwhile, Henson told the media about his comeback and said, “It's great to be back. I am over the moon to get this chance - I have really missed it. I feel mentally refreshed. Yes, I would love to come into this match on the back of 20 games under my belt or something, but that's not the case.”
He further said that he will leave no stone unturned to impress the selectors for the upcoming global gathering in New Zealand. He added, “But I have got a chance here, and I will do everything I can on Saturday to hopefully force my way into these August internationals (Wales play England twice and Argentina), and then looking forward to the World Cup.”
Wales will take on the Barbarians in a test match, in Millennium Stadium Cardiff, on June 4.
