Welton Arthur seeking a hat trick through bagging the Desert Sarah Memorial Stakes at Sheffield
Sheffield will become home for the Desert Sarah Memorial Stakes over 660 metres flat on Tuesday, 29th May. The most reliable entry for the race today is Welton Arthur, Head Bound’s three-year-old black son out of b***h, Galtee Minnie.
The rest of the line-up competing for the £200 prize money comprises of Magna Sparrow, Yahoo Dillon, Kauto Jet, Swift Nevis and Proper Pink.
He leapt into the season on 29th February but only to get drilled thrice at Sheffield. Twice the training session was over 280 metres while the last one was over 500 metres.
He scored second in his seasonal debut on 20th March in the Owlerton Standard Trophy at Sheffield over 500 metres. The race was won by the 4/9 favourite, Boher Legend in 29.29 seconds while he took 29.45 seconds to settle the race after rushing
through the two lengths by which the winner led.
Concluding the race third was Fintans Sid.
The first time that the three-year-old won during the new season was in the Grade A1 the Night Continues At Napoleons Casino on 6th April at Sheffield over 500 metres. The 2/1 joint favourite raced across the wire in 29.35 seconds.
He led the runner up of the race, Old Fort Chief, only by a neck’s margin. The other joint favourite, Ballymac Ramos, ended fourth.
He then bagged the Owlerton Bookmakers Stayers – Duplicated on 10th April at Sheffield over 660 metres by timing the track distance in 39.22 seconds. He led the 11/8 favourite runner up of the race, Mr Chow, by three and a half lengths.
The possibility of striking a hat trick got over shadowed by a third position in the Stayers – Duplicated on 17th April at Sheffield over 660 metres. The race was won by Proper Pink while the 5/4 favourite, Welton Arthur, ended third.
On 17th May he won a 500 metres race at Sheffield by completing the trip in 29.33 seconds and leading the runner up, Proper Pink, by 3 ¼ lengths.
Welton Arthur then went on to claim the Owlerton Bookmakers Stayers – Duplicated on 22nd May at Sheffield over 660 metres after racing for 39.50 seconds. Once again finishing the closest to the winner was Proper Pink.
He is looking out for a hat trick through dominating the race tonight.
