  1. 800 is a difficult race... i learned that from doing it many times. Its not excactly long distance and unfortunatly it a full out sprint basically but the 800 test your ability on how long you can hold that sprint. so just run like h**l kid

  2. Well, if you're going to win, you will wear yourself out. :-)

But at the end, not in the middle.  A name for what the other person answered is "negative splits".  Run the second 400m faster than the first 400m.

400m - fast pace, not out of breath.

    200m - pick it up a notch.

100m - pick it up again

    100m - turn and burn

This also depends on how much of a kick you have.  If it's less explosive, you may need to turn it up from farther out.  But you'll find that out with experience.

Congrats.  You picked a tough race.  Good for you.  I hope you do well.  If you're good at this, you have potential to be a fast miler.

  3. friend of mine (boy) is exceptionally good at this.

make sure you breathe deeply as you run.

sprint start-jog-at400m begin to speed up, and for the last 200 sprint and over take :)

    good luck x

  4. I'm 14 to and I have won pretty much every 800 race. Tips just go at a hard pace then at the last 200 meters start sprinting then at the last 100 meters give it all you've got

  5. If you are a quick sprinter, hang just beind the leader/leading pack, and make a break towards the end of the race to the line. This way you'l only use the energy you need to.

If you are not a quick sprinter the best way is to hit the front as soon as possible and ware out the opponents behind you by stretching the pace.

    Good luck!
