Wendy Liu wins Girls 50yard backstroke title – High School State Championships, San Francisco
Wendy Liu of LOW won gold medal of the Girls 50yard backstroke in the Junior category at the 2012 High School State Championships in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, May 1.
Liu remained marginally ahead of her competitors from the beginning of the race. With her epic performance, she showed no mercy to her challengers and clinched gold medal of the discipline.
With her immaculate efforts, she sprinted her way towards the finishing end for gold medal by submitting a time of 32.56 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by her teammate, Lissa Dechakul, who stayed 0.28 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 32.84 seconds.
Dechakul was chased by Malia Bow of BAL, who stayed nearly half body length behind and emerged on the finishing wall with the timing of 33.52 seconds for bronze medal.
Bow was followed by Taylor Lew of MIS, who remained just 0.05 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 33.57 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth spot of the event was secured by Alison Khaw of LINC, who was 0.19 seconds behind and ended her swim with an effort of 33.76 seconds.
On the other hand, Jonathan Nguyen of LINC snared gold medal of the similar event in Boys category. With his astounding efforts, he remained prominently ahead of his following swimmer and occupied gold medal of the event with the timing of 29.34 seconds.
He was followed by Austin Huang of GAL, who remained 1.24 seconds behind and reached the podium for silver medal by clocking a time of 30.58 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Nolan Dang of LOW, who stayed marginally behind him and tapped the wall with the timing of 30.86 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Eric Do of LINC, who stayed full body length behind and hit the wall with the timing of 31.71 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship came to an end after the completion of all planned events while the winners received accolades at the medal ceremony of the championship.
