Wenger Not Worried About Bendtner
Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is not worried about the fitness of Niklas Bendtner ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Danish striker went back to his club with a slight knock, which he picked up during one of Denmark's World Cup games. However, the Arsenal boss has said it is nothing to worry about and he will be available for selection.
This will be a lift to all Arsenal fans and members of the club as the team looks to push a little bit harder since they have been in the Premier League wilderness for a few years now.
Ever since the golden Arsenal team, which went a whole season without losing a game, was broken up, the club has really struggled to put together a side that can genuinely compete for the title.
Positives
Bendtner being fit means that Wenger has one more option in the attacking areas of the team. There is going to be a lot of pressure on Robin van Persie and Bendtner to score goals and take the side up to the next level.
There is also a great deal of pressure on Bendtner to score more goals after he said he would be the best striker in Europe within two years of joining Arsenal. He has yet to prove that he is good enough.
Another positive is that Wenger is not going to have to worry about drastically changing the way his team sets up ahead of the first league game. He may already have an idea and the Dane is likely to feature in his plans. It means that Bendtner will have the chance to hit the ground running and this is something he must do if Arsenal is going to do well this year.
Cotton Wool
Arsenal would be well advised to wrap Bendtner up in cotton wool right now to make sure that nothing happens to him. He will obviously play a part in a few of Arsenal's warm-up games before the new season, but there is always a chance that something could go wrong in one of these matches.
If Bendtner shows even the smallest sign that he is still carrying an injury then the medical staff at Arsenal will have to handle the situation. There is no point throwing him into a pre-season friendly match that does not matter only to make the injury worse and force Bendtner out for even longer.
Wenger should not have to worry about the match fitness of Bendtner. He played a few games for Denmark during the World Cup and his fitness is not likely to deteriorate rapidly over the next couple of weeks while the player trains, or even if he is given a small amount of time off.
Betting Advice
Bendtner is one of the Arsenal players that will have to do well next season if the club is going to succeed. He's a very good player and will always be a candidate to score a goal in any game and at any time. You may even get longer odds on him than you may expect.
Cash in on Arsenal during the early part of the season and their Champions League campaign. They are more likely to win games early on and you need to utilise this before the pressure and the business end of the season kicks in much later on. Arsenal haven't finished well in the last few seasons but you can back them to beat the smaller teams in the league out of sight.
