Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger has admitted that his team need to put in a lot of work defensively, if they are to go on and be successful this coming season.
The team played against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kitchee-c39721 on Sunday, but instead of pushing their opponents aside, the team barely managed to secure a two all draw.
Wenger isn’t very happy with the way his team performed and feels that the club’s defenders really need to step up to the plate.
Both of Arsenal’s goals were conceded when the defenders had lapses in concentration and these kinds of performances just aren’t going to be acceptable in the future.
When talking about the game, the Gunners boss is reported to have said: "I think defensively we looked fragile, especially in the first half”
"In the second half not so much because we were not challenged. Defensively we have a lot of work to do as a unit to do much better.”
The manager then went on to talk about the fact that he gives just about everyone a chance to prove themselves in the pre season. He admitted that he does this, because if he finds a player performing well in the pre season, then he is certain that they
can perform in the regular season with the team as well.
He continued: "We let everybody play and some players are not yet at the level of the Premier League. It is a learning process. If you don't do it in pre-season then you never do it - you give them a chance to see what is requested at the top level.”
In the team’s defence, they didn’t have some of their first team players with them in the squad and considering how they were playing younger inexperienced players, some mistakes were bound to occur at the back.
However, with the manager pointing out the problems that the team is making and with him more than likely looking to resolve them, it is only a matter of time before the North London club finally manage to patch up their rather leaky back line.
