Wenger annoyed over Pearce’s demand of playing Wilshere in the England U-21’s
While the Golden Boy trophy eluded the 18-year old Arsenal player thanks to a certain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463’s prospects of featuring for his country look bright with the youngster already earmarked as an England regular.
The coach of the England Under-21 squad, Stuart Pearce, along with Sir Trevor Brookling, notably known as the Director of Youth Development for the FA, have jointly insisted that they would like to see the youngster feature for the under 21 side in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884. The match time is aimed at further accelerating Wilshere’s growth and development while the added experience would prepare him for the upcoming Euro 2012 finals.
Arsene Wenger disagrees. The Arsenal boss believes that the England Football body should decide once and for all as to where they see this player. After already being called up for the senior side in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello’s reign, it should be clarified whether the Arsenal number 19 part of the senior squad or the under 21. Wenger further added that after getting reasonable game time at a top, top club like Arsenal and already getting recognition from the coach of the National team, playing for the under 21 side would be a huge step down. It would further confuse the youngster than build his game.
"If you step down you feel you go down. When a player plays under his normal real level he is never good, it's a low in our game. If you take any player who plays at Arsenal in the Premier League, put him down to Division One, you would be disappointed by him because it is a mental low and, for him, he has to adapt to a different game, and he will be lost.” commented the Arsenal manager.
Touching on the potential fatigue front for his young prospect, here is what Wenger had to say:
"...We have to sit down at the end of the season and see how many games Wilshere has played, before considering that he plays in the under-21's. That the boy wants to play, I find that positive. But that he is now playing with the first-team until June and then playing in the under-21s, that will not work.”
However, while the Frenchman’s argument is sound and logical as usual, his words also swing the debate towards Pearce’s favour – He admits that Wilshere, himself, wants to play. This further complicates matters. Technically, if a player wants to play for his country, irrespective of whatever capacity, be it a senior appearance or an opportunity for the junior side, the club has limited say on the player’s decision.
To conclude, owing to the sheer promise the young lad has, it is sincerely hoped that the player, his manager and the FA administration of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 come to a consensus that is good for country, club and the 18-year old.
