Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger feels that China are slowly starting to become a major force in the world of football.
The North London club are set to tour Asia in the coming weeks and will play matches in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Malaysia-c2949 and China. However, the manager feels that China is slowly coming up the ranks and is quote similar to Japan in terms of football.
These comments coming from Wenger obviously mean a lot, considering the fact that he used to manage in the Japanese league, prior to his move to Arsenal.
"The China league is a bit like the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Japan-c2928 league, where I was in 1994," Wenger said on his club's official website.
"That was the third year of professional football in Japan and it is similar in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/China-c8926, but it is not enough.”
"To make a sport popular you need the elite and you need a strong basis of the number of people who practice the game."
He also admitted that China are becoming a politically and economically sound nation, which is only going to help their sports industry grow in the future.
"Usually, sport follows the economic power, and the economic power is moving at the moment from Europe to China and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858," he added.
"These countries, if they have the desire, they will have the players. The history is in Europe - but how long can we resist the power of China if they really want to develop football? The future will tell.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 were set to be on a tour of Africa, after their trip to Asia, but those games had to be cancelled. The reason for the team not making the flight to Africa is being blamed to some logistical errors, which happened to come right after Robin Van Persie’s
announcement.
The striker went on to reveal that he wouldn’t be extending his stay at Arsenal and this dealt a major blow to the team’s plans.
It was believed that perhaps a tour of Asia might also be scrapped, but in the end it was only the African tour that was deemed as impossible for the time being.
