The win saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520 all get on the score sheet for Arsenal, as they helped the team steer five points clear of Tottenham Hotspur.
This win is also Arsenal’s second win in a span of just four days, which has given Wenger and his men a massive confidence boost, with just a couple of games to go in the season.
The manager is now confident that his team will be able to finish in the top three and feels that it is now up to the Gunners to continue playing football the way they have been.
When talking about his squad and just what they need to do, Wenger is quoted to have said: “We’ve still got a long way to go at least we’re in a strong position now. It is looking good but when you have my experience you’re always cautious.
“The target is to win our games, starting with the next one.”
The Frenchman then went on to remind everyone how it was hard for the team to see most of its key players walk away, but admitted that the team did brilliantly to maintain its spirit and confidence.
At the same time, the way the squad went on to turn the season around is quite remarkable to say the least.
He added: “It was a difficult period because we had many players going away and very late. We had many injuries that were not expected but overall you have to deal with that.
“We’ve kept a good spirit and that’s where we are today.”
Should Arsenal continue to put in such breathtaking performances for a majority of the season next time around, they could potentially go on and end their trophy drought.
