  1. This shows that he doesn't trust his defenders, like Senderos, Eboue and others, instead of buying other countries he chose his main rival's defender and Silvestre will cost Arsenal points by conceding penalties, freekicks or score own goals for Arsenal, he think that Silvestre has been successful in Man u, and so do when in Arsenal, he thinks himself is a 'genius'.

  2. alll i'm doing is laughing at the people who think Arsenal are "doomed" haha.

  3. He can play in various positions and he might be useful in Carling and FA Cups.

  4. In my opinion its sheer madness! What is Arsene thinking?!?!?!

  5. Not genius but not madness, he is a good signing because Toure, Eboue and Song have the African Nations cup, Senderos wasn't great last season so I have no faith in him so a good alternative player.

  6. Sheer madness

  7. really dont know why he did that complete madness

  8. Could turn out to be a genius move ,especially when you consider the price being bandied around by the press(less than 1 million or something?).Even if he doesn't make the first team,he's great addition to Arsenal's squad.A player like him would have come in useful last season for them(when they had injury problems).

@Xenia-Arsenal are short of defensive cover.Tell me,who would you rather play in your first team,Senderos or Silvestre or Song?I know who I will.

  9. typical wenger buying someone cheap and french madness

  10. Madness. Arsenal are doomed. Wenger as lost it. No Hleb, no Flamini, Van Persie won't stay fit, Adebayour won't have as good a season (anywhere who watched last weekend's game will agree), Nasri is good but not great.

Arsenal will be struggling for champs league this season i think. Villa, Everton and Pompey will all be pushing.

  11. wrong move.we should have never wasted our money for that player, however cheap his purchasing was

it will be a genius in the long term if he proves to be handy to arsenal but for now i dont think he is a really needed player in arsenal.

the gunners need not a defender.our defense does not have any gaps.what we need the most is a midfielder right now

  12. LMFAO lets wait and see

but for now i think it's just another player nothing special

  13. Personally, I'd say genius.

He won't be 1st choice, he'll be used as cover in defence. Considering he can play centre back, or left back, he is a great additon to the squad. I would much rather play him at centre back instead of Senderos, and we have no experienced cover for Clichy at left back.

He's proven that he is good enough, otherwise he wouldn't have been at Manchester United for so many seasons.

    Great cover, experienced and solid.

  14. I would say....a bit of both.

  15. madness. wenger is stupid!!!!!

  16. Left Back/Centre Back instead of a holding midfielder? Dunno. Maybe it will be genius

  17. Genius and Madness.

    That can I say.

Genius-Silvestre do a great perfomance at M.United and he also a France too.

Madness-He is old and it is not in Arsenal policy. He always injured when serve at M.United.

The most importantly Arsene buying player from their rivals team

    It is so madness

  18. Last i heard, selling clubs usually have very limited transfer budgets :P

  19. Its quite an odd move, but since Silvestre has lot of EPL experience, he might gel well with the Gunners.

  20. Madness

Wenger has already got one dodgy French centre half (Gallas) so why would he want another ?

  21. At this present time ... madness, but im really hoping that im proved wrong ... still a bit confused as to what Arsene's motives were to buy him actually, i dont usually doubt our bosses signings but this one i think was a wrong decision.

I shall wait and see though, and perhaps come back to me in a month or two, i may have changed my mind about Silvestre.

  22. To be honest, I really like the move. Holds up the back a little more, especially if Doujrou moves on as has been reported, I believe he won't play in a left wing back role unless Clichy gets injured, but as the starting centre-half alongside Gallas. To experienced bodies at the back are good. Hopefully we can sign Alonso in Jan window when Liverpool pick up Gaz Baz.

  23. THIS IS MADNESS!!!

    NO, THIS IS WENGER!!!

lol well i think it is a mad bit of transfer. I hope he doesn't start him regularly. only when someone is injured.  (why did Wenger give Silvester a 2 year contract when he refused to do so for Pires, Gilberto and other aging great Arsenal players??). This is long way away from what Wenger usually does.

And I also hope this is not the last signing of this season. We are still a player short to challenge for the title.

  24. Neither. Nobody can tell as we haven't seen him in some real action after he came back from his injury so I think Wenger may have acted fast in his decision to sign him.

  25. Good bit of business!

For very little money Wenger has picked up an experienced player who provides cover for left back and centre of defence and that is one thing they needed!

But time will tell, lets see at the end of the season!

  26. Good move, they will probably play Silvestre at centre half, he's definitely better than Senderos.

  27. seems like he really doesnt have enough budget to work with

  28. It just shows what SAF thinks of the competition allowing one of the top 4 to purchase one of his players, whether or not he was releasing him. Then again, Wenger knows what he's doing and I have no doubts he discussed the buy/partnership with fellow Frenchman Gallas...
