http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s manager, Arsene Wenger has gone on to defend the Gunners after his team failed to beat Bradford in a Capital One Cup game last night.
The Gunners went into the game looking to be the favourites to end up winning the game. However, with Bradford scoring the opening goal in the game, all of that seemed to change for the team.
Arsenal managed to score a goal right before the game came to an end, which saw the match get pushed into extra time.
With neither side scoring in extra time, the game was then pushed on to penalties, since one team had to walk away as winners.
With three of the Gunners players failing to score with their spot kicks, Bradford went on to win the game and progress to the next round.
Despite this rather poor display and loss to a team that lays over sixty spots below Arsenal in the English leagues standings, Wenger went on to defend his team, since he feels they played rather well, and were a little unlucky to lose in the game.
"It's disappointing but congratulations to Bradford, they defended well, started stronger than us," Wenger told reporters.
"The second half and extra time was all us but we couldn't convert our chances and Bradford defended very well.”
"It was a typical cup game on a difficult pitch, but a playable pitch and overall we lost on penalties. But I cannot fault the effort of the team, we've given absolutely everything until the last minute and it was a typical English cup game.”
"Bradford in the end got on top of us and of course we missed three penalties. That is a lot to take.”
With the way things are going for Arsenal, it won’t be long before the team ends up making a claim to being a mid table team at best. The team needs to start turning things around before the year comes to an end, since the way things are going, time seems
to be running out for the club.
It is now a wait to see just how the Gunners perform in the coming weeks.
