Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger has gone on to insist that Olivier Giroud is the ideal centre forward, and claims that the striker has just what it takes to excel at the Emirates.
The French international was on target once again, as he netted another brace, in the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brighton-c38685 in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Gunners barely went on to win that game, but a double by Giroud and a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 goal, saw them edge past their opponents by three goals to two.
Wenger paid around twelve million pounds for the striker when he signed him in the summers, and with him already scoring thirteen goals in his first season with the club, it is easy to see just why the manager decided to spend the cash on the player.
When talking about Giroud, the Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger is reported to have said: "He could have played 20 years ago in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, 10 years ago and today, because he has everything you need to play centre-forward... physical presence"
"Usually we go more for mobile players who are just on the move, but he gives us something different, and I believe with him and Theo Walcott we have a good partnership.”
"Without him [Giroud] up front it would have been difficult. It is coincidence that Giroud and Walcott were not at Bradford. We had a lot of the ball but we did not score.”
The manager then admitted that Giroud tends to use his physical superiority to get ahead of this opponents and to contest for the ball, which is something the Gunners were really lacking in the past.
"When he gets in the fighting mode he is difficult to handle. He is tall, strong, he is quicker than people think he is.”
"Giroud himself says that one of the main draws to the Premier League was the physicality of the division, and though he admits he has suffered recently, he believes he plays better when facing adversity.”
Giroud seems to have finally started to bag in the goals, and should he continue to improve from here on out, he could go on and become one of the most lethal forwards to play for the Gunners.
