http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s manager, Arsene Wenger is fairly confident that his team’s victory over local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, will help spur the team on and get them back to their winning ways.
Before the Gunners took on their rivals, they were going through a rather rough patch, which saw them sit outside the top four. However, with their rather impressive five goals to two win, they now look to have ample confidence to move on from here and continue
performing to the best of their abilities.
Last season the Gunners were in a similar situation prior to their derby game, which also resulted in Arsenal winning by the same score. At the same time, last time they also went on to win their next five games after the derby, which is something Wenger
is hoping will repeat itself.
The manager is also hoping for this latest win to help give the team a much needed confidence boost which they need, in order for them to get back to touching distance of the top teams in the league.
“We have shown quality, spirit and a lot of movement, and that is what we want from our team,” he told the club's official website.
“The result will help to rebuild belief completely again. There is something special in this team and I am happy that will come out when they play with complete confidence.”
“I am confident [it will be a platform]. Let's be consistent. We will gain some belief and confidence from this result, and we will transfer that into our next game and show the same performance.”
Wenger was also very critical of his team’s performance as he was well aware of the fact that there were a number of defensive lapses in their recent performances. Despite that fact, he is quite delighted that the team has found their goal scoring form,
since he feels it is easier to improve a team on the defensive, as compared to on the offensive.
“I believe it is always easier to correct the defensive side than getting your team to score goals,” he continued.
“When you score goals you always have a chance.”
