Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed Theo Walcott’s performance against Newcastle and insists that the Englishman belongs at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and remains a major part of his plans.
The French manager hailed the winger-c*m-striker after his inspired and dazzling performance against the Magpies. Walcott scored a hat-trick as Arsenal scored 7 goals and completely dismantled Newcastle, winning their 4th successive Premier League
game of the season.
The striker continues to make a claim for a new and improved contract deal and has backed up his desire to play as a striker after notching up a hat-trick on Saturday.
Walcott scored in the first half, but Newcastle came back through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 and equalized. The Gunners then took the lead twice in the second half, but the visitors came back both times to level the score line.
However, it was Arsenal who in the end emerged as victors as they scored a flurry of goals and saw out the game. Olivier Giroud, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 also featured on the score sheet, but it was Walcott who outshone everybody else on
the pitch.
With doubts on the player’s future escalating, and Waclott having proved himself capable of playing as a striker, the ball now lies in Arsenal’s court. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international has certainly made his claim for a central role, and Arsenal will have to make
sure they tie him down to a new deal.
The 23-year old has only 6 months left on his current contract and is understood to be on his way by the end of the season. Wenger remains confident that the former Southampton player will stay at the club and is seeking a quick resolution to the situation.
Speaking to reporters, he said:
“He belongs here. I want it resolved with the same intensity. I think he loves the club and the club loves him.”
Walcott’s treble against Newcastle was very reminiscent of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thierry-Henry-c34918, especially his first goal, and Wenger was quick to point that out. He added:
“That was a Thierry Henry-type goal. He has done very well; it typifies what I think he can do. He can play through the middle, he will only get stronger. He is a good finisher, he has learned a lot because he is an intelligent player. He will continue to
improve.”
