http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s manager, Arsene Wenger has insisted that he is still going to try and keep Robin Van Persie at the Emirates, despite the odds being against him.
Following a very successful season last season, which saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 climb up the charts and be hailed as one of the best strikers around, the Dutch international went on to state that he won’t be extending his stay at the Emirates.
The forward stated that he didn’t agree with the plans that they had for the club and felt that he needed to leave, in order to fulfil his personal ambitions.
At the moment, the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus are the favourites to land the forward, as they seem to be intent on signing the twenty eight year old.
Despite all these links, Wenger is not giving up just yet and feels that he might just be able to keep the player around.
“For me, Van Persie is one of the best strikers in the world, if not the best, and my desire is to keep him at the Club,” he told Arsenal’s official website.
“As for the rest I will do what is in the best interests of Arsenal Football Club. That, at the moment, is where we are. There is not a lot more to say than that.”
He then went on to admit that the striker was going to continue and perform like a professional, irrelevant of where he was or who he played for.
“As long as you are somewhere you give your best every day for that club. If it changes, it changes. I am convinced that Robin is like that, he is completely focused every day on his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684. He loves football, he loves the game and as long as he is here he will do that.”
Despite Wegner’s claims, it seems highly unlikely for Van Persie to stick around, following his comments.
The team seems to be ready to accept a bid in the region of twenty million pounds and with three teams looking to land the striker, it’s only a matter of time before he ends up leaving the Emirates.
