Wenger feels that the way the player has been playing, and they way he has grown into the team has made him a vital asset to the team, and hopes for him stick around.
"I want to keep him, and I think aside from the contract talks, you have to give him credit for the way he is committed to the team, and for the way he behaves," said Wenger.
The forward was in top form in the Capital One Cup against Reading, as he lead the team to come back from being four goals down, to winning the game by seven goals to five.
In the match, Walcott scored a hat trick, which proved to be crucial to helping the team win in rather impossible circumstances.
Following the game, there has been a lot of talk regarding the player being converted to a striker and Arsene Wenger feels that the way he has been progressing, Walcott is bound to become an all out striker in the near future.
He added "I always said he will be striker. He's a good finisher now. He knows where to be on the rebounds.
"That is the quality of a striker you can’t give to someone, they either have it or they don't."
Having played over a hundred and fifty games for Arsenal over his career, the England international is one of the senior members of the team. As a result, him putting pen to paper to extend his contract with the team is of utmost importance to the club.
